National Category and Marketing Manager

Introduction

A leading supplier of power tools and hardware to the retail, motor and industrial industries is looking for a National Category and Marketing Manager to join their successful team.

As a National Category and Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the overall product category and marketing function within the company. You will work closely with cross-functional teams such as sales and operations to develop and execute a comprehensive category and marketing strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Product Category strategy that aligns with overall company goals and objectives, by conducting situational analysis on the industry, category, economy and competitors to identify trends, growth opportunities and business/regulatory risks.
• Recommend specific actions to be taken to ensure competitiveness and market leader.
• Develop and manage product assortment plans, pricing strategies, promotional plans, and inventory management to maximize profitability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotions to drive category sales.
• Monitor and report on category performance, including sales, profitability, and inventory metrics, and make recommendations for improvement
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of products and negotiate favourable terms and pricing.
• New routes to market and adjacent categories identfied, strategies developed, resourced & implemented
• Monitor the accuracy of Contract Price List and maintain margins in line with company policy.
• Responsible for setting pricing bands aligned to portfolio strategy.
• Calculate the product profitability and ROI and suggest corrective action as required.
• Track campaigns success by compiling and submitting relevant reports to key stakeholders. Use insights learnt for future campaigns.
• Development and overseeing implementation of the Marketing strategy – including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR.
• Organize and attend company conferences, trade shows and major events.
• Produce valuable content for the company’s online and digital presence, editorial design and organize the company’s publications
• Manage customer/supplier relationships and communication
• Manage Human Resources within the team.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience managing a product and/or category management and marketing function, within the Wholesale and Retail industry (preferably the Tooling and Hardware industry)
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make business decisions
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Proven track record of developing and executing successful category strategies
• Experience managing a team is essential

• R85k CTC – R90k CTC Per Month + R1500 cell allowance Per Month
