Introduction

A leading Industrial Services company is looking for an Engineer to join their successful team.

Purpose

Engineer/Technologist/Technician will be responsible for the design and analysis of temporary structures (scaffolding), whilst ensuring the safety, efficiency, and compliance of temporary works designs within the framework of project requirements and industry standards.

Ensure designs are as per requirements, and completed within scope, budget, and timeline.

Manage design workload, identify any issues, and implement corrective actions.

Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced team members.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Team Management: Support less experienced engineers.
• Planning: Manage own workload, including resource requirements, timelines, and prioritisation.
• Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs, drawings and provided services meet quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with stakeholders including structural engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
• Industry Engagement: Stay updated with industry developments, codes, and regulations related to temporary works design and incorporate best practices into engineering solutions.
• Operational: Develop detailed temporary works designs or solutions.
• Conduct structural analysis to ensure the stability, strength, and integrity of temporary structures.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications for temporary works designs.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to assess the implementation and performance of temporary structures, addressing any issues or concerns that may arise.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s or BTech degree, or National Diploma in civil engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Prokon, Robot, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of relevant design codes and standards such as SANS 52812, SANS 10085, OHS Act, and Construction Regulation.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a challenging environment.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as required.
