Lighting Designer

Introduction

Our Client is a leader in outdoor lighting world-wide whose mission is to provide cost-effective lighting solutions for safe, comfortable, and sustainable environments.

The Lighting Designer position is responsible for processing of all lighting design requests, allocated to him/her by the department manager and representing the company’s brand in a professional manner.

Duties & Responsibilities

• This is related to outdoor and indoor designs including but not withstanding: road and street lighting, floodlighting, sport lighting and general-purpose areas.  This will include a detailed report and consultation on delivery of the results to the intended customer/client and or sales representative.
• Use of AGI32, RELUX, DIALUX and ULYSSE lighting design software, processing of lighting designs and presentation thereof.
• Assist the Manager in liaison with mast manufacturers, specifiers, contractors, and the sales department to ensure that requirements for the lighting designs have been correctly interpreted.
• Liaise closely with, and report to, the Manager on the completion and correctness of designs processed.
• Assist the Manager with the commissioning and measurements of lighting installations across all segments, as and when required.
• Conduct internal and external training for all stakeholders with regards to lighting design and use of lighting software.
• Duties will include, but not be limited to the abovementioned.  With co-responsibility for the efficient operation of the applications department.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Electrical Diploma or equivalent certification.
• Lighting design software proficiency and knowledge as listed above.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the lighting industry.
• Knowledge of the basic principles of lighting.
• Experience in AutoCAD and other design related software will be an advantage.
• The candidate shall be required to travel extensively within the area and should therefore be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
• The successful candidate shall be self-motivated, target driven and able to work independently with good communication skills on a senior level.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
