Introduction
Our client is the largest manufacturer of unsaturated polyester resins in Africa and a leader in developing and supplying innovative test technology for composites and allied industries.
The company manufactures and supplies high-quality resins, ancillary products and accessories, and processing equipment suitable for all fabricating methods.
Duties & Responsibilities
Control and manage fixed assets across the business.
Project Management
- Attend regular meetings with various business managers to ensure accurate information is available to project teams on the progress of each Capex project.
- Maintain capex progress sheets and distribute to business managers on a regular basis with updated information.
- Ensure that the Capex WIP accounts are updated regularly for Tangible and Intangible assets.
- Supporting Business in ensuring that all projects are correctly classified between Capex and Opex.
- Provide input to the Business on all costings of the projects including NPV calculations and Payback models.
- Ensure all documentation is complete prior to submitting to management for approval.
- Management approval is submitted via Docusign once all documents are in order (NPV, Payback calc, 3 Quotations, and justification from the Business)
Asset Register Maintenance
- Ensure all projects are in line with the current approved Budget and if necessary, provide details of project substitutions.
- Maintain a file with all current projects underway and all relevant documentation available.
- Ensure that all projects receive sign-off from Business Managers and projects are subsequently capitalized to the asset register with the correct category and depreciable periods.
- Check all postings to the GL are correct.
- Duties will also include maintenance of the Wear and tear register for tax purposes.
- Maintain an up-to-date sheet of all additions and disposals throughout the year.
Motor vehicles claims
- Maintain a list of all motor vehicles in the company fleet and coordinate any insurance claims with insurers.
- Disposal of vehicles that are scrapped by Insurance.
Reporting
- Produce/Update the monthly Capital Expenditure report for the Management pack.
- Prepare the Creditor’s spend report each month for the Management pack.
Stock Counts and Adjustments
- Act as an Auditor during the quarterly stock counts.
- Local Travel will be required from time to time at the branches.
Budgets
- Interaction with all departments on the Capital expenditure budget processes annually.
ERP Admin
- Month-end closing of Fixed Asset Module.
Balance Sheet Recons
- Perform allocated balance sheet recons within specified time i.e. Cost; Accumulated Depreciation, Work in progress.
Internal Control
- Ensure ALL change control documents are in place and are correctly adhered to.
Adhoc Duties
- As and when assigned. The tasks will be reasonable and will fall within skills and capabilities.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Relevant Tertiary qualification (Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or 3-5 years previous experience as Accountant)
- Computer Literate – Advanced Excel experience essential + proven working experience in accounting programs
- Previous asset management experience is an advantage
- Specific proven Sage X3 experience will be an advantage
