IT Specialist: Infrastructure

Introduction

A leading South African manufacturer and marketer of Traditional Sorghum Beer and alcoholic beverages  is looking for an IT Specialist: Brewery & Depot Support to join their successful team.

Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting to IT Operations Manager, the role will be responsible for planning, implementing, overseeing, and maintaining server and network infrastructures and projects.

The successful incumbent will collaborate with the IT support, collaborations, and applications teams during the design, development, and business-as-usual phases to provide guidance, interpretation, engineering expertise, and support.

Top Accountabilities

Design:

Ensure that services such as Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange are designed to best practice standards for resilience and availability to ensure the highest SLAs are maintained.

Availability:

Ensure that uptime SLAs are met every month for systems that you are responsible for by managing and resolving issues logs; performing scheduled maintenance to minimize disruption.

Performance:

Ensure that performance SLAs are met every month for systems that you are responsible for by monitoring system performance, capacity, and growth; suggesting and implementing performance improvements and hardware/software refreshes.

Information Security:

Ensure that the network and systems are internally and externally secure by following existing policies and procedures and documenting for audit purposes as required; implementing security controls and remediations; completing risk assessments and building guides for new and existing systems.

Business Continuity:

Ensure that data is secure and backed up by ensuring that regular backups and made and are tested; participate in yearly BCP & DR tests; ensure that any new build is in line with company requirements and departmental policy for resilience and availability; document resilience and backup plans for all new builds.

Training:

Develop professional and technical knowledge and skills. Provide technical advice and mentoring within the team and organization.

Project Work:

Implement new projects to meet project timelines and deadlines.

Budget:

Recommend changes to the manager that could reduce costs in your areas of responsibility.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12

• Diploma/BTech/BSc/ qualification in Information Technology or any IT-related tertiary qualification

• International certifications are an advantage (MCSE, A+, N+, CCNA, Security+, ITIL, Server+, etc.)

• Driver’s license

• Own vehicle

Experience

• 3-5 years proven post-qualification experience working with IT infrastructure

• 2 years experience in managing networks and communication systems: WAN, LAN, Wi-Fi, VOIP

• 2 years of experience managing and administering Microsoft Windows servers

• 2 years of experience managing and working on Azure/AWS cloud platforms

• 2 years experience in managing Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, and Group policies

• 2 years experience in the administration of backup solutions

• Experience working within tight SLAs/OLAs and deadlines

• Previous experience of patch management solutions in an enterprise environment

• Experience with MECM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) is preferred Managing server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server/ESX or       Microsoft Hyper-V/Virtual Server
